Vietnamese among most confident consumers in the world
Vietnam’s confidence index jumped to 119 points in the second quarter, making it the second most optimistic nation in the world, according to the latest edition of the Nielsen Global Consumer Confidence Survey.
This is the highest score ever recorded in Vietnam since the first Nielsen’s survey was carried out in the country in 2006.
61 percent of respondents in Vietnam said the country has weathered the economic crisis because the Government has implemented effective programmes to promote economic growth and control inflation. 47 percent said they would spend excess cash on new technology – the highest percentage in Asia, according to the survey.
This is a good time for businesses to build strategic plans to attract Vietnamese consumers, said the New York-based information and measurement company.
The Nielsen Global Consumer Confidence Survey polled approximately 27, 000 consumers in 48 countries throughout Asia Pacific, Europe, Latin America, the Middle East and North America about their confidence in the job market, the status of their personal finances, and their readiness to spend.
