Vietnam Business Briefs November 07, 2012

* Saigon Shipping Joint Stock Company (SGS) announces that its Saigon Queen ship, with a crew of 22 on board, sank off Sri Lanka October 30. The firm said that eighteen crewmembers have been rescued while the four others, including the captain, remain missing, adding that the current value of the ship reached VND73.5 billion.* FLC Group JSC (FLC) will transfer its all 5 million shares in FLC Securities JSC to individuals who want to buy until November 11 at the price not lower than VND4,600/share, the firm said in its resolution of Board of directors.

* Tan Tao University Joint Stock Company has bought over 367,000 shares of Tan Tao Investment Industry Corporation (ITA).

* Mekong Fisheries Company (AAM) has announced November 13 as the ex-dividend date to advance 2012 first round dividend in cash for shareholders at 14 percent.

* Viettronics Tan Binh Company (VTB) has plans to buy back 300,000 shares as treasury shares within two months starting from November 7. Meanwhile, NBB Investment Corporation (NBB) has decided to sell over 139,000 treasury shares.

* Hocmon Trade JSC. (HTC) will pay 2012 second cash dividend to existing shareholders at VND500/share on December 5 and the record date of November 16.

* Viet Rubber Industry Group has bought over 132,000 shares of Ben Thanh Rubber Company (BRC) to spur its owner-ship from 17.9 percent to 19.5 percent.

* Saigon Maritime Public Limited Company (SHC) has got approval from the Hanoi Stock Exchange to list 600,000 new shares on the bourse, the HNX posted on its website on November 6.

* Education Finance Investment JSC, major shareholder of Hung Yen Book Publishing and Educational Equipment JSC. (HST) sold 57,200 shares through November 1, cutting its holding to 181,800 units or 12.21 percent stake after the deal.

* Saigon Maritime Public Limited Company (SHC) will float 600,000 new shares on the Hanoi Stock Exchange on November 9, raising its total number of shares listed on the bourse to 4,309,550 units.

* Petrolimex Joint Stock Tanker Company (PJT) has closed the branch at 810A, Nguyen Duy Trinh, Phu Huu, district 9, HCM City, the firm said in a filing posted on the STC’s website on November 6. The branch which was agent of trading gas oil products (except for Gas) has posted ineffective operation in the past time.

* Thu Duc Trading and Import Export JSC (TMC) targets a pre-tax profit of VND29 billion on revenue of VND2.3 trillion and basic investment total of VND27 billion in 2013.

* PetroVietnam Power Engineering Consultancy JSC (PPE) announces November 12 as ex-date and November 14 as record date for seeking shareholder approval. The company will seek the approval on November 30 for approving removal of BOD chair, appointment of BOD member, appointment of director cum chair and business line addition.

* Funderburk Lighthouse Limited whose equity representative is Badri Narayanan Santhana Krishnan, BOD member of PetroVietnam Insurance Joint Stock Corporation (PVI) bought 4,227,941 shares through October 25, raising its holding to 27,117,895 units.

* Vietnam Construction JSC. No. 3 (VC3) announces November 14 as ex-date and November 16 as record date for seeking shareholder approval for 2012 business target adjustment. The company will make the approval seeking from November 26 to November 30, 2012.

* Belton Investments LTD has become a major shareholder of Ninh Van Bay Travel Real Estate JSC (NVT) after buying 5,086,000 NVT shares on November 2. After the share purchase, Belton Investments LTD raised its holding in the STC listed firm to 6,690,840 NVT shares or 11.06 percent stake as at November 2 versus 1,604,840 units or 2.65 percent stake as at November 1.

* Ben Thanh Trading & Service JSC. (BTT) said it has distributed 1.8 million bonus shares to 512 shareholders. The new shares were rounded down to unit and odd shares have been bought back at VND10,000/share for treasury shares. The firm’s total current shares: 10.6 million shares including 10,599,776 outstanding shares and 224 treasury shares.

* Mechanics Construction and Foodstuff JSC (MCF) targets a pre-tax profit of VND31.5 billion on revenue of VND707 billion and a dividend payout at VND2,000/share in 2013, the firm said in its resolution of Board of directors. The company posted VND26 billion pre-tax profit on VND551 billion revenue in 9M/2012, meeting 104.3 percent and 78.7 percent of the full-year targets, respectively.

* Mobile network provider MobiFone in coordination with Research In Motion (RIMY yesterday launched a mobile service package with unlimited Internet access for Blackberry phone users with a fee of VND40,000 for 30 days. Users can text DK BBU and send it to 999 to register for the package.

* Piaggio Vietnam has introduced new Vespa LX and Vespa S models which can save 30 percent more fuel compared to previous models. Specifically, the new scooters consume only 1.8 litres of fuel for every 100 kilometers under test conditions. Vespa LX 125 and Vespa LX 150 are priced at VND66.9 million and VND80.7 million respectively while it will cost VND69.7 million for Vespa S 125 and VND82.2 million for Vespa S 150.

* Japan – invested Tiger Vietnam last week put into operation a plant producing electrical appliances worth $12 million in Amata Industrial Park, Dong Nai Province

* Japan-based Akuruhi supermarket chain has opened a food supermarket in Hanoi City which specializes in supplying food for restaurants, hotels and other supermarkets

* Vietnam Container Shipping Corporation (Viconship) has opened Logistics Green centre in Dinh Vu Industrial Park, the northern port city of Hai Phong. Having an investment ofVND168 billion, the centre covers an area of7.5 hectares and has an estimated capacity of 100,000 TEU per year.

* Kia has opened a new showroom on Hanoi Street, Hai Phong City with an investment of VND92 billion. The showroom can hold 50-60 cars.

* Maritime Commercial Bank and Toplink Joint Stock Company have launched Linkcard that allows users to transact at ATM booths and enjoy discounts of some brands and services.

* Cuu Long Seafood Company (CLP) will begin trading eight million shares on the Hochiminh Stock Exchange on November 15 at the reference price of VND18,000 each. Thu Due Electro Mechanical Company (EMC) will also float over eight million shares on the bourse on November 29 at the reference price of VND12,000 each.

* Red River Holding has acquired 976,000 shares of Hoa Sen Group (HSG) to secure a 15.4 percent stake in the enterprise.

* Fecon Foundation Engineering and Underground Construction Company (FCN) has announced November 9 as the ex-dividend date for shareholders to receive 2011 stock dividend at the 5:1 ratio.

* MB Securities Company has registered to buy 1.3 million shares of International Development & Investment Corporation (101) from November 12-26.

* Petrolimex International Trading Company (PIT) obtained nearly VND1.6 trillion in revenues and VND168 million in pre-tax profits in the January-September period.

* Military Bank (MBB) has announced November 13 as the ex-dividend date for shareholders to receive 2012 first round dividend in cash at 10 percent.

* ACB Growth Fund (ACBGF) has announced its net asset value per unit by November 1 at VND11,878, inching up VND21 against the previous week.
