Iranian President visits Vietnam to boost ties

Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad began a two-day official visit to Vietnam Friday at the invitation of Vietnamese State President Truong Tan Sang, Vietnam News Agency reported. As the highest-level visit made by an Iranian leader since 1995, his trip aims to strengthen cooperation with Vietnam, especially in trade, agriculture, fisheries, culture, sports and tourism. Natural rubber consumption in the country rose by 6 per cent to 5.02 lakh tonnes in the first half of the current financial year. Its production rose marginally by 1 per cent to about 3.96 lakh tonnes during the same period, according to the Rubber Board data.
