Bain Says Private-Equity Deals to Rebound: Southeast Asia

Southeast Asia’s private-equity investments will pick up as early as next year, reversing a half-decade slump as the region’s improving economic outlook attracts funds, said Sebastien Lamy, a partner at Bain & Co. More than 65,000 Vietnamese workers sent abroad in 10 months

More than 65,000 Vietnamese workers have been sent to work abroad in the first 10 months of this year, reported the Department for Overseas Labour Management under the Ministry of Labour, War Invalids and Social Affairs on November 5. Of the number, more than 24,500 labourers are working in Taiwan ( China ) while nearly 9,000 others are employed in the Republic of Korea . Vietnam’s FDI falls almost 50 percent in four months

Vietnam’s foreign direct investment (FDI) plummeted during the first four months of the year with only USD4 billion earmarked by investors from abroad, down 47.8 percent against the same period last year, according to the Foreign Investment Agency. Up to 262 new foreign-invested projects, capitalised at USD3.2 billion, were licensed from January to April, an annual decrease of 54.9 percent.
