PetroVietnam to start building Vietnam biggest cold LPG store tomorrow
The state-run Vietnam Oil and Gas Group (PetroVietnam) in coordination with VinaBenny Energy JSC started construction of Vietnam’s biggest cold liquefied petroleum (LPG) store in the southern province of Long An on Nov. 17.
The facility with a storage capacity of 84,000 tons of LPG will be located on a 22-hectare area in Tan Lap commune in Can Giuoc district.
The store includes a 34,000-ton cold Propane tank, a cold Butane tank, eight 2,000-ton LPG tanks, an international port with a receiving capacity of 60,000 DWT, two unloading ports with capacity of 5,000 DWT and 10,000 DWT, and eight LPG loading arms with a capacity of 1,200 tons per day.
Daewoo Engineering of South Korean is the EPC contractor of the project that costs $245 million while Japanese JGC PROJECT SERVICES Co., LTD is the designer.
Vietnam now has 31 LPG stores with an averaged capacity of from 500 tons to 4,000 tons, which hinders local traders from directing importing LPG from major markets of Middle East and Australia but forces them to reimport from China and Singapore, driving up retail prices.
Local plants namely Dinh Co and Dung Quat can supply 40% of the national LPG demand and the country has to import the rest.
