Nov 9: Vietnam Stocks Rise, Liquidity Improves

Vietnamese shares closed higher today as with continued support from blue chips.

The benchmark VN Index gained 1.11 points or 0.29% to 386.71. Volume rose 6.3%to 24.8 million shares worth of VND3619.9 billion.

Put through trading contributed 1.6 million shares worth of VND32.57 billion.

Today’s market breadth turned positive on the primary bourse where 112 stocks advanced, 83 declined, 80 closed unchanged.

The VN30 rose 1.45 points or 0.32%, to 457.23. Among its 30 members 14 gained, 8 lost the ground and 8 unchanged.

VN Index opened in the green with 1.1 million shares changed hands. Trading was slow and in caution. However, buying into blue chips did buoy local market and more shares entered the positive ground in late trading.

Blue chips such as CTG, VCB, VNM, SSI, REE, KDC, BMC were all gainers, however, large caps such as BVH, lost, GAS, FPT, MSN, MBB, PVD, STB, VIC stayed in the neutral line.

KDC limited up for a third straight day after the news that Kinh Do Binh Duong registered to buy 8 million shares.

Top active players were MBB with 2.7 million shares, BGM with 1.6 million shares, ITA with 1.3 million shares and STB, HQC with 1.1 million shares and 0.7 million shares, respectively.

On the Hanoi Stock Exchange, the HNX added 0.5 point or 0.98% to 51.58.

Trading volume rose 6% to 23.75 million shares worth VND142.26 billion.

The market breadth turned positive where 126 rallied, 54 declined, 67 closed unmoved and the rest untraded.

The HNX30 rose 1.8 points or 1.97% to 93.49. Of its 30 members, 25 rallied, 2 declined, 3 closed unmoved.

Saigon - Hanoi Commercial Joint Stock Bank (SHB) was the most active with 4.8 million shares traded, closing up 2% to VND4,900 each on average.

Sai Gon Thuong Tin Real Estate JSC (SCR) ranked second with 4 million shares traded, closing up 2% to VND4,100 on average.
