Nov 7: Vietnam Stocks Rebounds, Banking Shares Lead

Vietnamese shares rose today led by banking shares.

The benchmark VN Index gained 3.95 points or 1.05% to 380.9. Volume fell 32.6%to 31.1 million shares worth of VND380.6 billion.

Put through trading contributed 4.1 million shares worth of VND79.37 billion.

Today’s market breadth was broadly positive on the primary bourse where 170 stocks advanced, 51 declined, 63 closed unchanged.

The VN30 rose 4.2 points or 0.94%, to 450.83. Among its 30 members 23 gained, 1 lost the ground and 6 unchanged.

VN Index opened in the green with 1 million shares changed hands. Trading was slow after the open, but livened up from 10:00 with gains seen in more shares.

Banking shares were all gainers except for STB. VCB, CTG hit the ceiling level. Investors are waiting for debut of BIDV’s shares.

Heavy weighs such as VNM, VIC, MSN, GAS stayed unchanged while BVH limited up.

Property shares gained, ITA, KBC, LCG, DIG, NVT, TDC were among ceiling gainers, SJS, NTL rose.

Shares related to Dang Van Thanh’s family pared losses, SBT even hit the ceiling level.

On the Hanoi Stock Exchange, the HNX gained 0.92 point or 1.82% to 51.58.

Trading volume rose 17.2% to 30.94 million shares worth VND193.2 billion.

The market breadth turned positive where 156 rallied, 46 declined, 47 closed unmoved and the rest untraded.

The HNX30 added 2.03 points or 2.23% to 93.15. Of its 30 members, 26 rallied, 2 declined, 2 closed unmoved.

Saigon - Hanoi Commercial Joint Stock Bank (SHB) was the most active with 11 million shares traded, closing up 2.1% to VND4,900 each on average.
Sai Gon Thuong Tin Real Estate JSC (SCR) ranked second with 4.6 million shares traded, closing down 4.4% to VND4,900 on average.
