Nov 14: Vietnam Stocks Close Mixed, Liquidity Falls

Vietnamese shares closed in a mixed note today with draining liquidity as investors eyed government’s steps to boost ailing economy, large cap buoyed the Southern bourse.

The benchmark VN Index added 2.49 points or 0.65 % to 387.71. Volume fell further by 16%to 24 million shares worth of VND320.8 billion.

Put through trading contributed 1.9 million shares worth of VND32.32 billion. We saw 1 million GTT shares changed hands at the neutral price of VND4,600 each.

Today’s market breadth turned positive on the primary bourse where 105 stocks advanced, 88 declined, 78 closed unchanged.

The VN30 rose 3.13 points or 0.69%, to 458.21. Among its 30 members 13 gained, 9 lost the ground and 8 unchanged.

VN Index opened in the red with 0.55 million shares changed hands as caution rose. However, share prices soon recovered VN Index entered the positive ground minutes after the open. Trading pace, however, was slow as investors eyeing the testimony of the Prime Minister at the NA meeting today after the Q&A session of governor of the The State Bank of Vietnam (SBV), the country’s central bank, and the Minister of Construction in the day before. Market closed of the high and supported mainly by heavy-weighs.

Banking shares were mixed CTG, VCB gained sharply while STB, EIB stayed unchanged, MBB fell.

Securities shares were weak, SSI closed flat, HCM fell while SBS continued to limit down.

VNM was the hero today whose share price limited up. Other heavy weighs BVH, MSN fell, while GAS, VIC stayed unchanged.

Property shares were mixed after the Minister of Construction called for NA support of rescuing real estate market.

On the Hanoi Stock Exchange, the HNX fell 0.09 point or 0.17% to 52.3.

Trading volume fell 48% to 18.9 million shares worth VND118 billion.

The market breadth, however, was positive where 84 rallied, 69 declined, 85 closed unmoved and the rest untraded.

The HNX30 lost 0.19 point or 0.2% to 95.68. Of its 30 members, 5 rallied, 8 declined, 17 closed unmoved.

Saigon - Hanoi Commercial Joint Stock Bank (SHB) was the most active with 3.6 million shares traded, closing flat at VND5,300 each on average.

Sai Gon Thuong Tin Real Estate JSC (SCR)ranked second with 3 million shares traded, closing down 2.3% to VND4,3 00 on average
